How do you store wet grilling wood chips?

I have some leftover unused wet wood grilling chips and I hate to throw it away. So how do I store it for my next Barbecue Day

in a bag…

If you can dry them in the sun, do so otherwise they will remain moist and could start to rot.

Unless u plan to use them in the next 48 hours they are pretty much mulch. If you bag them they will sit steeped in moisture and breed mold which will destroy the flavor point of using them. Store them in water and they will begin to rot and break down.

Dry them out first. Best way is to make a single layer and turn them every so often. Then simply place in a paper sack. Store in a dry place. They should be good to go for your next B-Que Day. Before you use them give them a smell. If they smell like wood and not mold you are good to go.

they are going to mold if they are already wet the only thing i can think of is freezer. or just buy more the next time. besides you dont use them to BBQ you use them in a smoker
