The Madagascar Mood Shifter is a sweeter, snapper version of the classic Margarita. The fruit juices teamed with the mine had wonderful cooling properties for those mercury-elevated parties of late summer.

Madagascar Mood Shifter

 

Ingredients 
  • 1 1/2 ounces Vanilla Tequila (see below)
  • 3/4 ounce Citronge or Orange Liqueur
  • 2 ounces fresh Tangerine Juice
  • 1 ounce Sweet & Sour (buy this by the bottle or make your own -- Click Here)
  • 3 to 4 fresh Mint Leaves
  • Ice

Directions 
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and all the ingredients.
  2. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds.
  3. Strain the mixture into an ice filled glass.
  4. Garnish with a tangerine slice and some mint leaves if desired.

Vanilla Tequilla

Ingredients 
  • 4 Vanilla Beans, cut into small pieces
  • 1 liter good-quality Silver Tequila
Directions 
  1. Add the vanilla bean pieces to the bottle of tequila and cap tightly.
  2. Let stand at room temperature for at least a week. Shake gently from time to time.
  3. When ready to use --
  4. Pour carefully so the vanilla stays in the bottle.
  5. Strain as you pour to catch the vanilla pieces.
  6. Strain the whole bottle and discard the vanilla pieces before you start.
